Fight to have Virginia sign the interstate popular vote compact
Submit an open primary and ranked choice voting bill
Begin the discussion on multimember districts
EDUCATION
Focus on quality of class time over quantity
Submit legislation requiring 15 minutes of recess for every 45 minutes of instructional time in elementary schools.
Submit legislation to reduce the number of state mandated tests.
Submit legislation protecting teacher planning time.
HEALTHCARE
Fight to protect Medicaid funding levels
Fight to expand Medicaid coverage
Lobby Federal Lawmakers for Medicare for all
MY STORY
Originally from Arkansas, I'm an educator with experience in the United States and 10 years internationally. We need politicians willing to restore sanity to government while also knowing how to get out into the streets and protest.
My wife and I adopted our daughter when she was 5 years old. Her school had active shooter drills. She would come home to nightmares saying she dreamed the police were coming in to shoot her. My wife and I decided to work internationally, in that way we could have her attend private international schools and not have to worry about gun violence.
After returning to the US I was saddened by how bad things have become politically. I considered returning to Europe but I chose to stay and fight for a better Virginia. Our community deserves fresh leadership after 19 years of the same representation. We need to really clean the House.
I'm worried about tribalism and politics and that we've had the same people in power for so long, with the same ideas. It's time for some real action and some new ideas. We can't let things keep going they way they are.
